Artist Profile

Born on Mornington Island in 1961, Peter now resides on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

Always living by the sea has resulted in coastal landscapes being a prominent subject of Peter’s work. Most of these favourite scenes are iconic- Noosa National Park and surrounding beaches, Bondi Beach Sydney, and Brighton Beach in Victoria to name a few.

Peter has an appreciation for a wide variety of artistic styles from the early Impressionistic work of Arthur Streeton to the precise, delineated urban scenes of Jeffrey Smart. Such artists and many others have inspired and influenced his work over the years.

‘The style in which I paint is often determined by the choice of subject matter.’

As well as being influenced by such masters, Peter gratefully acknowledges and appreciates the art training received from his mother, Carol Allen-Ankins.

While he would happily work on any sized canvas, Peter particularly enjoys working on larger pieces.

Much of Peter’s work has been sold privately.
